Taking it Seriously

So I have decided to take life seriously. I normally just float through life going with the flow of things. I am not a list person and I am not a schedule person either. Lately I have been trying to figure things out . . . the flow of my day, how my kids react to things, and my business. Well the kids are awesome they are totally go with the flow kiddos. They will do what I need for the most part. But I know that if I need to get extra work in my dear E gets a touch neglected. She feels out numbered with the boys.... mind you there are only three boys total and two of us girls... not that out numbered. She sees me taking care of the youngest monkey and the middle monkey and just gets hurt. Hee hee. She is sensitive. Well I think that I have figured it out more. Since I only have so much time when the youngest is napping I have to make things in a snap. So I am now trying to get things done while the kids are doing chores or home work but they need help with home work. I have it working though.

So I had posted that I would post the picture of the latest item being crafted for a family member.... an Apron for a wedding lunchon. My sweet cousin Christin recently got married and had such a beautiful dress. She was very worried of spilling something on it when she ate that my aunt asked if I thought that I could make an apron. Tada here is a custom made apron... no bride to try it on so I left out the darts and left it long. Then I had a photograph of her bouquet to paint on. My aunt wanted the bouquet painted on the front and arms holding it. This is the finished result.
I wasn't able to attend the wedding so this is how I contributed. I know that she had a beautiful day. She is such a beautiful person inside and out. So happy for you both.

Organization on the Homefront

So as preschool has begun my world is again redirecting. Having three monkeys roaming about does that.

We finally got the domain names registered. Yippee. I am officially s and z. Now we have to actually get the site up and going. Since I have all of this free time while I am getting ready to go full steam ahead on the site I thought that I should get organized. If the workspace and home don't flow I know my creative juices just won't flow. Why is it then that every time I get revved up to start cleaning/organizing I find something in the pile that I want to play with. For instance I was cleaning up the scraping area and found those event calendars that I was going to put together last year for Christmas. I really had to refocus my energies to reorganizing. Within a few hours I found my desk again and can actually make use of it. Off to another corner of the house to make it functional.

Beautiful Fabric

I have come to realize that you can never have too much fabric. Really you can't. I was so excited when my local sewing store began carrying fabric. I immedately went to investigate. They are so nice. Well after I made a small purchase I put my name on the stores email list and mailing list. Boy am I glad that I did. They just had a 'Christmas in July' sale and oh my the fabric was FABOLUSLY priced $4.50 a yard for all 45'' fabric. The sale was for three days. So I of course had to go the first day or in my mind everything would be gone.... not really they keep everything very well stocked. To get to the point of the story . . . I went in to the store with my three kiddos in toe let's not get crazy Tenacious one was in the stroller. My mistake however was that Since I am just starting out I had no real plan for projects and I had limited funding. So I was of course overwhelmed with all of the beautiful fabric. I left with some Nemo fabric for the boys some dumb dots in chocolate and avocado from Michael Miller, more of the Cowboy Michael Miller fabric and other fun stuff. I kept thinking 'I can make a dress for Monkey Head out of this' and 'Oh I can do this with this' but I don't know that I got enough fabric to start and complete a project bigger than bibs burpies or tees.

Oh well I have been working on my sweet mother in law's curtains this past week so I have been beyond neglecting our home and any 'planning'. I will post pics of my MIL's awesome new kitchen this week after the curtains are finished and hung. They aren't anything complicated pretty simple really but they look great! Hopefully I will get more items made for my site soon.

I had a photo shoot with an adorable friend of mine a month ago. Her daughter is three weeks old in the photos. We are getting ready for her three month shoot soon. She was such a proud mommy.
These are pics of baby girl K. S. I love baby toes!

Pretty Quilt.... mine, not yours!

Win a quilt at www.oldredbarnco.blogspot.com

Speaking of cuteness check out the youngest in his latest fave hobby fridge raiding. He opens the fridge hoards our home grown grapes. We have duct tape on the side but some one forgot to 'retape'.

Ok so I was perusing Sandi Henderson's blog (as usual) and she now has a picture of her dress pattern Clarie. LOVE IT! Must say I will be making these dresses for my boutique. Can I really wait until I order the pattern??? I guess that I have to keep waiting and wishing for time to speed up... just for a few weeks any way. I don't want to wish away my kiddos days of cuteness. SO I saw that there was a FREE QUILT being given away for posting to this awesome blog Old Red Barn Co. and had to enter. It is a beautiful quilt. It is made out of Gingerblossom fabric! LOVE IT.

I post this here only because I get extra entries for posting here. But I am very selfish . . . I do not want you enter to win but I do want you to head to her store and blog. Please check out her stuff. She has such a fun store. Just don't enter (wink wink jk) I want a better chance to win and the more of you crazies like me that enter the smaller my chance is of winning. There are already well as of this post 369 posted comments. And after browsing through them most are even posting and linking and possibly videoing. Is that a word? Humm my friends who are language nuts are sure to correct me on that one.

Again please visit her site without entering for my quilt. Again it is going to be mine Muhahahaha (enter evil malicious laughter here) and if you read her post I can assure you that I would definitely not use the quilt in a cow barn. I may not even let Scott my sweet hubby touch it if I won. The kids.... definitely not. I will have to post pictures of their 'favorite' mama quilt.... the poor thing is now inside out and torn horribly. I am not sure how to begin to fix it.

Visit the Old Red Barn Co. today :) There should be a pic and a link but they are for some reason not copying over correctly. Will try again tomorrow.

Beginning Brilliant Blossoms.com

So I am currently in the process of starting my business and website. I am a teeny bit stressed out about trying to get the house organized so I can create. There are so many piles of crafty things that I can't seem to figure out where to start. I keep telling myself that it will get done while I sleep when the elves come out but alas the piles are still there.

I was so happy that I cried when I saw the design for my web site. My awesome hubby is a wonderful graphic designer and front end web designer. The colors are what I imagined and the layout is what my site will need. I am so excited! I am going to have a section on photography, mommy helps, scrapbooking and a SHOPPE! I am actually going to start selling some of the hand crafted items that I make and possibly family and friends. There is so much to get done .... the name is already trademarked so I am in the process of figuring out if I am able to get the trademark somehow. Not sure if I can even do that. Fingers crossed.

Alright. I am obsessed with fabric at the moment! I absolutely love it to the point that I have been stalking some designers sites and blogs. I am so inspired by Sandi Henderson fabrics! Her blog is so amazing and I must say her Ginger Blossom and Farmers Market fabric is to die for!

This is the whole line.

This is the fall collection.
The summer collection.

And finally the Spring collection.

So yummy aren't they! If you haven't seen it here is the link to her blog. She has really cute clothing patterns also. I may just have to purchase the ruffle pants they are just too cute. Michael Miller Design is also a fave fabric designer at the moment. They have just gotten with a few more of my favorite ladies to start carrying their fabric lines. I am so excited to see what they are going to come out with. I will keep you posted on when their stuff is up for viewing.

Keep your fingers crossed on the trade name fun too. Hopefully my site will be up an running by the end of July. Again fingers crossed... toes and eyes for extra luck.

Laundry what laundry?

There is laundry to be done. Having said that I am on this kick of checking out other peoples blogs. I am in love with fabric at this moment. I have inherited boxes and boxes of fabric from my Grandma who just moved. She makes me laugh. About 10 years ago she had a stroke. Then another and another. She never regained her marvelous quilting or sewing abilities. So when they decided to move out of state this Christmas the family got together to 'help' pack. More or less pack what they really needed in their new home. All of the fabric stayed with me! I was both excited and terrified. All of the fabric was left where it had been the past 8 years. Piled in boxes and bags most of which still had the receipt pinned to them the fabric lay waiting to be used. So deciding not to hoard the fabric all for myself.... and I guess that the light persuading by my hubby begging me not to move an entire ROOM of fabric into our already cramped bedroom may have had some thing to do with it. I decided to fabric sale what I didn't have to have. Well I promise that my pile is small. I already have fabric that 'ooohhh I know that would make an adorable. . . blah blah enter in dress, skirt, bag, shorts or whatever you may think that fun fabric could make.

So in my new found fabric wealth I began lurking all over these awesome blogs and sites with vintage or home made clothes and dresses and such. I must say that there are some wonderful and beautiful blogs and amazing artists out there. I am in awe of the wonderful creations that are being produced in homes and shops every day. I wish that I could produce such art. I just love doing it. My creations aren't what most would call art or even good but they are a creative release for me. I love doing it... and by 'it' I mean cake making, scrapbooking both digitally and paper traditionally, cardmaking, painting, sewing, baking, photography and anything else that I can get my hands on.

I really do plan on posting photos of some stuff at some point soon. Just as soon as the laundry pile catches up with the folding pile.
